A management controller (French contrôleur de gestion, close to an FP&A analyst in US nomenclature) guards the economic performance of a business unit. They model activities, build budgets, analyse variances and produce the metrics that drive decisions.

Scope

  • Annual budgets and in-year reforecasts;
  • Monthly reporting (P&L, cash, operational KPIs);
  • Profitability analysis by product, channel, customer, site;
  • KPI design and stewardship with operations;
  • Ad-hoc studies — business cases, investment ROI, period close;
  • Participation in business reviews and exec committees.

Skills

  • Cost accounting (full, partial, standard);
  • Excel excellence (pivots, Power Query, Power BI); SAP CO, Oracle EPM, Anaplan in large groups;
  • Critical thinking, ability to challenge without breaking rapport;
  • Professional French and English.

Training

Master CCA, Master Management Control, engineering schools with a finance track, ISCAE, ENCG, HEM. CMA (IMA) certification is valued in some groups.
